Medical ProCerts offers continuing education credits in ACLS, BLS, PALS, First Aid/AED & First Aid certification and recertification. Jointly provided by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) and Medical ProCerts.

Target Audience for Medical ProCerts Certifications
This activity is intended to meet the educational needs of health care providers involved in the care of patients in cardiac arrest. Please see the Credit Designation section (below).
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- increase the probability of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).
- improve life-threatening conditions.
- recognize and provide treatment of a patient during abnormal heart rhythms and cardiac episodes.
- correctly perform BLS.
- understand ACLS algorithms and protocols.
- work within effective team dynamics. defibrillate with an AED.
- know the methods of airway management.
- understand normal heart anatomy and physiology to quickly identify and treat abnormal deviations.
- recall drug dosages, access routes and contraindications.
- provide post-cardiac care.
- provide acute stroke care.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
- initiate of the Chain of Survival.
- deliver high-quality chest compressions to promote circulation to the brain and other vital organs.
- become knowledgeable of when and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- provide rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-mask, bag-mask).
- understand how to work within a resuscitation team.
- treat a choking victim.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- identify problems that place a child at risk for cardiac arrest.
- increase the probability of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).
- improve life-threatening conditions.
- correctly perform BLS.
- understand PALS algorithms and protocols.
- work within effective team dynamics.
- defibrillate with an AED.
- know the methods of airway management.
- recognize and provide treatment of a child or infant with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiac arrest.
- recall drug dosages, access routes and contraindications.
- provide post-resuscitation care.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) & First Aid
- provide basic CPR, including AED use, for adults, children, and infants.
- be competent in choking relief techniques in adults, children, and infants.
- understand the basics of first aid and what should be included in a first aid kit.
- be familiar with multiple medical problems that may be encountered in a first aid situation.
- be able to provide basic first aid for traumatic injuries such as bleeding, sprains, eye problems, and burns.
- provide basic first aid care for environmental injuries and illnesses including bites, stings, temperature-related illnesses, and poison exposure.
